Preparing for Your Fall Mini Photoshoot - October 2024

Wow, I can't believe it's October already! The days are getting shorter, air is getting a little crisper, but it sets the perfect tone for this moment. In preparation for your upcoming Fall Mini Session, I've gathered some helpful tips to get the family excited and ready, and you can leave the rest with me :)

For everybody else, there are still limited spots available, please dm me for details!

** Depending on the weather, there may be some last minute schedule changes to capture the best photos - I will reach out accordingly

  1. What to Wear

When choosing outfits, think layers and complementary colors. Warm neutrals—like deep burgundy, mustard yellow, burnt orange, or forest green—look fantastic against fall foliage. Avoid overly bright or clashing colors. Coordinating (but not matching) outfits for the whole family creates a cohesive look. Consider cozy scarves, cardigans, boots, and even hats for added texture and style.

  • Tip: Bring an extra layer for everyone in case it gets chilly during your session.

2.  Prepping the Kids

For families with little ones, preparation is key. Make sure the kids are well-fed and rested before the session to avoid any meltdowns. You can also bring along their favorite snacks or toys as a little reward or distraction if needed. The goal is to keep the session fun and stress-free.

  • Pro Tip: Talk to your kids about the session beforehand, explaining that it's a fun time to play and be together as a family.

3. What to Expect During the Session

I will guide you through the session to ensure everything runs smoothly. Typically, your session will be a mix of posed and candid shots—so don’t worry if things get a little chaotic! Some of the best family photos happen in those in-between moments: when everyone is laughing, hugging, or just being themselves.

Let me know if there are any specific shots or poses you’d like, but also be open to their suggestions. They’ll know the best ways to capture your family in the natural fall environment.

4. Timing is Everything

Fall days are shorter, so it's important to be mindful of the time. Optimal sessions often take place in the early morning or late afternoon when the lighting is soft and flattering.

We maybe rescheduling our session last minute if the weather is not ideal. The lighing condition is key to turn out beautiful pictures. We will keep you posted and maybe reach out a day before the session to reschedule if it is cloudy or raining.

Make sure you plan your day accordingly to arrive on time and make the most of your session.

  • Tip: Arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can settle in and make any last-minute adjustments before the session begins.

5. Relax and Enjoy the Moment

Family photo sessions are meant to be fun! Don’t stress about perfection—some of the most treasured photos come from spontaneous moments. We’ll make sure to capture the love and connection that makes your family unique.

6. After the Session

Once your session is over, I’ll begin the editing process to ensure your photos are perfect. Depending on your photographer’s process, you can expect to receive your photos within a couple of weeks. This is the exciting part! You’ll get to see your family’s joy and love preserved in beautiful, timeless images.

Sincerely,

Eva
